Privacy statement

Jumbo Maritime (hereinafter: “Jumbo”) attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data. This privacy statement explains how Jumbo processes your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR/AVG).

1. Personal data that we process

When you visit our website, we do not collect personal data unless this is strictly necessary (e.g. via cookies, see below).

If you actively provide information, for example by subscribing to newsletters, registering for events, or applying for a position, we may process the following personal data:

  • Name and contact details (such as email address and phone number);
  • CV, motivation letter and application data;
  • Any additional information you voluntarily provide.

We will only process personal data that is necessary for the purpose for which it is collected, in line with the principle of data minimization. You have the right to obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you as well as information about the recipients or categories of recipients to whom we have disclosed it.

2. Purpose and legal basis for processing

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Managing and conducting recruitment and selection procedures;
  • Assessing your suitability for a position;
  • Communicating with you about your application;
  • Maintaining a talent pool.

The legal basis for processing is:

  • Performance of pre-contractual measures (your application)
  • Legitimate interest (efficient recruitment process)
  • Consent, where required (e.g. longer retention period)
3. Retention period

With your consent, Jumbo may retain your personal data for a maximum of one (1) year after the end of the recruitment process, so we may contact you for future vacancies.

You may withdraw your consent at any time, after which your data will be deleted unless we are legally required to retain it.

4. Security

Jumbo takes appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse, or unlawful processing. All personal data is treated confidentially and stored on secure systems.

To manage applications efficiently, we use AI screening and related recruitment tools. These tools may organize, sort, and prioritize applications, and may generate scores or rankings to help our recruiters identify candidates whose profiles appear to match the requirements of a role.

5. Sharing of personal data

Jumbo may share your personal data with third parties only where necessary and in compliance with GDPR, such as:

  • Service providers (e.g. IT or recruitment systems);
  • Affiliates within the Jumbo group;
  • Authorities where required by law;
  • All third parties are contractually obliged to ensure an adequate level of data protection.
6. International data transfers

Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), Jumbo ensures that appropriate safeguards are in place (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access;
  • Right to rectification;
  • Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”);
  • Right to restriction of processing;
  • Right to data portability;
  • Right to object;
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time;
  • Right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens: autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

You may exercise your rights by contacting us using the details below. <link>.

8. Cookies

Jumbo uses functional and analytical cookies to improve website performance. Analytical cookies are configured to minimise impact on your privacy (e.g. anonymised IP addresses).

You can change your cookie settings via your browser at any time.

9. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a tool from Google, to see how people use our website – for example, which pages are visited most and how long people stay. This helps us improve the site. The tool collects things like the pages you look at, your device and browser, and a shortened version of your IP address (so it can’t be traced back to you personally).

For the moment your data is collected and sent to Google, Jumbo and Google share responsibility. After that, Google uses some of the data for its own purposes, and Google is responsible for that part – you can read how in Google’s Privacy Policy. If you’d like more detail on how Jumbo and Google divide their responsibilities, this can be provided upon request.

We only use Google Analytics if you agree to it through the cookie banner when you visit our site. You can change your mind at any time by updating your cookie settings – anything we did before you withdrew your agreement stays valid, but we’ll stop from that point on.

We’ve set Google Analytics up to be as privacy friendly as possible:

Your IP address is shortened before Google stores it; data-sharing with Google’s other services and advertising features are turned off, data is kept for 1 year, then deleted automatically; and we have a written agreement with Google about how they handle your data on our behalf.

Google may store your data on servers in the United States. The European Commission has officially decided that the US offers adequate protection for personal data when the receiving company is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

All the rights listed in Section 7 apply here too. You can also file a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the data protection authority in your own country if you think something has gone wrong.

10. Complaints

If you are concerned about an alleged breach of privacy law or any other regulation by Jumbo, please contact us. Our contact details can be found here below. We will investigate your complaint and give you information about how it will be handled. You can also file a complaint at the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (www.autoteitpersoonsgegevens.nl)

11. Changes

Jumbo reserves the right to amend this privacy statement. The most current version will always be available on our website.
